    @sehurlburt I struggled with taking a position in DevRel after more than a dozen years being an advocate for web standards. I didn't want to compromise all I had worked for, so I was clear: I would not be a schill or be out there hocking product for Microsoft.

      @sehurlburt Thankfully, they had no interest in me changing what I was doing. As @sarah_edo mentioned, a portion of my work is community relations. I try to be a voice for the community inside (good and bad). I highlight problems, help expedite bugfixes, and identify areas we should invest.

        @sehurlburt @sarah_edo But ultimately, I’m out here trying to make the web better for everyone. I know I’m not alone in this. As with most things, everyone is different. I agree that it probably doesn’t make sense to follow sometime who’s essentially a paid fan, but most folks I know in DevRel aren’t.
