Privately called out a family member in 2013 for homophobic language. 🦗🦗🦗 Yesterday they acknowledged the behavior as hurtful, apologized, and said they were actively learning about social justice issues facing the LGBTQ+ community now. Slow progress > no progress.

I share this not to pat myself on the back, but to give hope to other folks who have done this and feel like they're wasting their breath. You're not. People need to hear it.

If they hear it enough, maybe it will sink in. Maybe your call out will be the one that actually gets them to change their behavior.
