Background: Our kindergartener was being bullied by his teacher. Part of it was how she treats the kids in her care across the board, but a larger part was how she treated the Black & Brown students in class and how she singled out our kiddo in particular.Permalink On twitter.com

There’s a long story here, but I’ll keep it brief: We had to move schools for his mental health, but we’re not letting the situation go. We filed a formal complaint—which is being investigated—with the district & the teacher is currently “on leave.”Permalink On twitter.com

I bring this up because bullying by teachers is not often discussed. If you don’t have a kiddo who talks about what’s happening in the classroom, you may not even be aware that it’s happening.Permalink On twitter.com

Also, to be clear, I have nothing but the utmost respect for teachers. It’s a really tough job with a ton of responsibility for very little pay and, often, very little respect. My mom was a teacher, so I know what that looks like from her side and how it affected her.Permalink On twitter.com
