  1. My mind was totally blown when I listened to @Radiolab’s “Speed” episode yesterday, in particular when they discussed Lene Vestergaard Hau’s experiment — over a decade ago! — where she slowed down & ultimately stopped a light pulse.

      Not only did she & her team stop it, they made a “matter copy” (imprinting the light on atoms), which they moved to a new location and then turned back into light. 🤯

        She discussed the possibility of putting light on a shelf, which is just bananas. She even discussed being able to take it with you, perhaps on a flight from one location to another.

          On the podcast they joked about going through TSA with light in a bottle, but my immediate thought was WTF would happen when they hit the bottle of frozen light with an x-ray?
