@techgirl1908 @browniepoints Great talk. To be clear—indie web guy that I am—I really love the future you’re pointing at. Owning your content and data is key to the future.

@techgirl1908 @browniepoints One thing I wonder about is data caching. On one hand grabbing data from a DWN is a perf concern. My heart flutters a little every time I add another networked service to the stack because I know how fragile (esp. when you consider mobile) those connections are.

@techgirl1908 @browniepoints So providers will likely cache. If they do, how do we reclaim/expunge our data? I know you mentioned this is your major concern as well.

@techgirl1908 @browniepoints Some may choose not to cache for liability reasons (as you also mentioned), but what about other bad actors? Especially those that pop up and disappear quickly and become difficult to track and bring legal action against.

@techgirl1908 @browniepoints On the legal front, as well, there is an opportunity for orgs to pop up and manage the legal claims for violating trust. That’s not something that could really be handled directly on a per-user basis, but it also would present challenges as a class action.

@techgirl1908 @browniepoints I’m excited to see where this all goes. There are a lot of thorny issues to work out, but there is so much to be gained from this approach.
